VBDR Addresses Improvements for Claims Processing and Dose Reconstruction on Behalf of Veterans (PDF Format)
BETHESDA, Md.—The Veterans’ Advisory Board on Dose Reconstruction (VBDR) made further advancements in support of veterans through recommendations and enhancements to the dose reconstruction and claims processes during its seventh public meeting in San Diego, Calif., April 2-3, 2008.

The Veterans’ Advisory Board on Dose Reconstruction (VBDR) will hold its seventh public meeting April 2-3, 2008, in San Diego, Calif. The event will be held at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel, Mission Valley, King and Knight Chamber rooms, 1433 Camino Del Rio South, San Diego, Calif. The meeting will be conducted April 2, 2008, from 8:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-5:00 p.m., with a public comment session from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The meeting will be held April 3, 2008, from 8:00-10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.-1:15 p.m., with a public comment session from 10:15-11:15 a.m.

VBDR made further advancements in support of veterans through recommendations and enhancements to the dose reconstruction and claims processes for veterans during its fifth meeting in Las Vegas, Nev., March 7-8, 2007. The consideration of alternative methods for dose reconstruction and a proposal to form an ad hoc dose reconstruction subcommittee were among the Board’s accomplishments.

The third public meeting of the Veterans’ Advisory Board on Dose Reconstruction (VBDR) was held in Austin, Texas, June 8-9, 2006. The meeting included briefings on epidemiology models for estimating cancer risks, and a summary of findings on beta dosimetry from the National Research Council’s report on dose reconstructions for atomic veterans. Presentations were also given on the current status and activities of the Nuclear Test Personnel Review (NTPR) dose reconstruction program and the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) compensation program. more |
